About Magdala Productions
The goal is simple: bring people closer to God
Imagine if your favorite Biblical character could tell you their testimony in their own words. What would you want to know? What would you want them to say? Magdala Productions digs deep into the lives of the saints that came before us. Each 45 minute solo performance consists of only one Biblical character as they tell their story of redemption, hope, and love in their own words. After every performance is a short Q and A with the actor discussing the show and history of the character portrayed. These professional theatrical performances travel the country, bringing church communities together through the gift of storytelling. A message from the creator...

As a young Catholic actor/singer-songwriter from Southern California, I've witnessed firsthand the growing gap between Christianity and the arts. Staying a faithful believer while still pursuing my career has found itself to be challenging. Because of that, I wanted to create something that is not only entertaining, but uplifting and Christ-filled.

I began researching one of the most controversial individuals from the Bible: Mary Magdalene. I was surprised when I discovered there was very little factual information about her. Conspiracy theories painted her as many different things from a prostitute to a lover. Who was this woman that stood at the foot of the cross? What was her story? How did she become possessed? How did she find Jesus? Pulling from various sources, I began to weave Mary's narrative together focusing not only on her faults, but on her redemption. I wanted to showcase how Jesus can impact anyone's life.
Working on this play on and off for years, I couldn't exactly envision what the Lord had in mind. Five years and many prayers later, Magdala Productions was born: A company producing uplifting one-person Biblical portrayals bringing the Bible to people's backyards. The company, named after the woman who inspired the first show, has grown into a theatre company that celebrates Christianity through the art of storytelling. Mary Magdalene: Saint of Sinners is the first of many Biblical portrayals I'm excited to share with you. Mary has shown me that I am not alone, and I hope she does the same for you. Stay tuned for more information on our next show, I promise it won't be you'll to forget.
Blessings,
Julie Meram
